Alvakanda Construction Company is a licensed general contracting firm located in Charlotte, NC. Founded in 2016 by Selvin Alvarado and Julie Onekanda, Alvakanda has grown into a well-known name, reflecting the Hispanic and African heritage of both founders through an acronym of their last names. The company officially launched in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and has since been dedicated to providing exceptional service throughout the Carolinas. Alvakanda Construction has plans to expand its commercial division, aiming to take on more clients and foster new partnerships.
Selvin Alvarado is a Honduran native with over 20 years of construction experience. After arriving in the United States in 2013, he embarked on his entrepreneurial journey in the construction trade as a skilled carpenter. Driven by a passion for the industry and a vision for the future, Selvin set a goal to one day own a construction company.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Selvin enjoys providing opportunities to those in the community and takes pride in working alongside his wife and business partner, Julie Onekanda. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer and cherishing moments with his family.
Julie Onekanda is a proud Charlotte native and the licensed holder for Alvakanda Construction. With strong skills in project management, she serves as the heartbeat of the company, ensuring that every project runs smoothly and efficiently. After a lengthy career in the medical field, Julie discovered that construction was a perfect fit for her passion and aspirations of becoming a business owner.
Together with her husband, Selvin, they form an exceptional team. Julie brings a wealth of business knowledge and expertise in strategic planning and client relations, fostering an environment of collaboration and growth within the company.
In her free time, Julie enjoys exploring the beauty of nature and hiking in the local North Carolina mountains!
